Leftovers: Silly people! Fruit-shaped Trix and beer are for breakfast!

At Food Dive, we get mferrous sulfate 5 mgore product pitches and press releases than we know what to do with. Some items are intriguing, some sound amferric pyrophosphate testing methodazing and some are the kinds of ideas we would never dream of. We can’t cover all of them — and it’s a pity because most are creative and fun. So we’re starting a new column this week. We’ve written about a few new products, but here are the leftovers pulled from our inboxes.###For most of its run as an iconic children’s cereal, Trix has been brightly colored round shapes. And for all of the new ideas that General Mills tries to bring to the cereal, there seems to be a fairly influential group out there who wants the cereal to stay the same. (Remember clean label Trix without artificial colors or flavors?)###So is it any surprise that the millennial nostalgia machine has brought fruit-shaped Trix back? The cereal, formally called Classic Trix Fruity Shapes, reprises the cereal’s look from 1991 to 2006. According to a company press release, the shapes and flavors include “Raspberry red, Lemony Lemon, Orangey orange, Wildberry blue, Grapity purple and watermelon.”###The company says it’s received more than 20,000 requests for the fruit shapes in the last year and a half. And, according to General Mills, the shapes are “back and here to stay.”###While the shapes bring more fun to one of the more colorful breakfasts out there, here’s hoping consumers remember one important truth that a former fan of Cap’n Crunch’s Crunchberries cereal learned the hard way. The cereal pieces may be shaped like what they are supposed to taste like, but they are not actually fruit.###— Megan Poinski###The most important meal of the day just got a lot more fun.###Dunkin’, which dropped “Donuts” from its branding just last week, is bringing a new kind of morning pick-me-up to its fans: the Dunkin’ Coffee Porter. The restaurant chain partnered with Harpoon Brewery to create the beer, which is made with Dunkin’s Espresso Blend Coffee and has an ABV of 6%. Beer and coffee lovers can find the new brew at retail outlets and bars nationwide. Let us know how it pairs with a donut!###Pancake purveyor IHOP has also hopped on the beer-for-breakfast bandwagon with its IHOPS Pumpkin Pancake Stout, which is blended with real pancake mix.###You won’t find this beer at the chain’s restaurants, since very few have liquor licenses, but the adult beverage can be enjoyed at New York bars and beer festivals throughout October.###— Emma Liem###It’s October, which means the colors are changing. ###In nature, there are browns, reds, oranges and yellows as autumn takes hold.###Everywhere else, there’s pink. October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, which means that items ranging from accessories to sporting gear are turning pink. And food is no exception.###Some of the new pink offerings are rose-colored spins on already popular flavors, like Cape Cod Potato Chips Pink Himalayan Salt & Red Wine Vinegar chips. While the bag is perfectly pink, the kettle-cooked chips appear to be normal colored — though 5% of the proceeds from the limited-batch flavor go to the Susan F. Smith Center for Women’s Cancers at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.###Dippin’ Dots and Doc Popcorn are also getting into the pink, but not through their individual products. Each location is collecting funds in-store to support the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, a cause inspired by CEO Scott Fischer’s mother’s struggles with the disease. ###However, Doc Popcorn isn’t leaving the unofficial color of the season behind. The shop is selling a pink PopBucket — which holds about eight cups of popcorn — from which $4 from the proceeds will be donated liposomal ferric pyrophosphate usesto the foundaprenatal vit fe fumaratetion. ###— Megan Poinski###For those who aren’t really into color, Taco Bell has you covered. The fast food restaurant’s CPG arm is selling a new variety of sauce-packet-flavored tortilla chips in 7-Eleven stores. Diablo chips are black, and the company says they have a bold taste, flavored with hot peppers and lime.###”7-Eleven customers are adventurous and always looking for new taste sensations and unusual flavor combinations to try,” said 7-Eleven Merchandising Senior Vice President Jack Stout said in a press release.###While there is no shortage of spicy tortilla chips on store shelves, the color of these sets them apart. But even though they don’t look like a normal chip, they’re still keeping with clean-label trends. According to a company press release, the chips are vwampole ferrous fumarate iron 300mgegan, kosher, gluten-free and colored with natural vegetable juices. ###— Megan Poinski
