WeWork leads $32M investment in Laird Superfoods

WeWork’s investment in Laird appears unusual. A more established startup is funding a company in a wholly other sector with a highly specific product. But the overall picture suggests we might see more of this kind of cross-sector investmferrous fumarate 210 mg nedirent and collaboration going forward.###The co-working company presents itself as an incubator for startups — both the ones who use its space and the ones, like Laird, who stand to benefit from WeWork customers. About a year after WeWork secured the money ro allocate $20 million in cash prizes, the company announced it would launch a venture fund called the Creator Fund. Whether the investment in Laird comes from that fund isn’t clear, but WeWork’s intention to support other start-up companies is.###To that effect, WeWork will sell Laird’s products both in its WeMRKT retail stores and on-site self-serve food and beverage kiosks. WeWork offices are something of a natural home for a non-dairy creamer company with something extra. Laird’s founder and CEO Paul Hodge sees WeWork users as his target consumer: health-minded “corporate warriors.”###That WeWork chose to invest in a company making non-dairy creamer enriched with MCT oils could suggest consistent and steady consumer demand for both products. Certainly having the product available in too much ferrous gluconateall WeWork kitchens will help with visibility and brand identity.###Some predict the market for MCT products at large is prime for innovation and expansion, in part thanks to the popularity of keto diets. Laird isn’t the first company to bring MCTs to the coffee industry. Bulletproof coffee entered the fray in 2014 with a splash, claiming that butter and MCT-enriched coffee couldferrous bisglycinate with l-isoleucine encourage weight loss and improve efficiency and mentalyara ferrous sulfate clarity. Bulletproof 360, the company that makes the beverage, raised $19 million in a Series B funding round.###Last year, Nestle partnered with Know Brainer Foods, which makes a similar coffee creamer with both MCTs and organic grass-fed bis ferrous lactate veganutter.###Given the recent investment, ever-increasing market for MCTs, and predicted growth in the non-dairy creamer sector, “high performance” coffee might be around to stay.
