USDA Releases Proposed Exemptions for Plant Modified Through Genetic Engineering

On November 15, 2023, the U.S. Depaferrous fumarate gluconatertment of Agriculture’s (USDA) Animal 9 chelated zincand Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) published an Exemption Proposal in the Federal Register, introducing five new types of genetic modifications that plants can possess. These modifications would be ferrous sulfate zinc sulphateexempted from 7 CFR part 340 Movement of Organisms Modified or Produced Through Genetic Engineering (ferrous glycine sulphate in pregnancyhereinafter "7 CFR part 340"), as they can be achieved through conventional breeding methods.
